Lipomas in Dogs
Question:
My 6 year old Golden Retriever has a lipoma. Is there anything I can do for this.
Sincerely, Gay B.
Answer:
Thank you for your inquiry to Holistic Pet Info. Lipomas are a natural way canines deposit fat. It is commonly thought that a high carbohydrate diet, which is found in commercial diets, is the cause. The only way to get rid of the lipoma is surgically. If it is not in an area that hinders walking or on an area that the dogs lays on, there is no need to remove it. I recommend to decrease the chance of further lipoma formation to place your Golden on a high protein, moderate fat, and low carbohydrate holistic diet. Best of luck.
Sincerely,
Colleen Smith DVM, CVA |
