Cat with Enlarged Heart
Question:
We have a Siamese mix cat that is 6 years old, and was just diagnosed with an enlarged heart. I’m hoping that if we give him extra taurine that will help reverse it. He is on enalapril 2.5 mg and furosemide 12.5 mg. His heart was normal in 04. I brought him in to our vet because I thought he had asthma. Could that strain cause the heart to enlarge?
Two of your products really interested me – the Immugen and Bio-Cardio. I was looking for something with DMG and CoQ10. After boo got his second set of shots, his immune system shut down so I have been doing all I can Thanks Mare
Response:
Hello Mare,
Thank you for your inquiry to Holistic Pet Info. With any cardiac conditions in cats the thyroid should also be checked, has Boo been tested for Hyperthyroidism? I’m not familiar with Asthma conditions in felines being directly related to cardiac disease. Though Siamese are genetically known to have Asthma and irritable bowel related conditions.
As a holistic and Chinese practitioner all conditions are interconnected, affect other organs and the energy well being of the animal. Since your cat has had previous reactions to vaccines, I would most likely not give any more vaccines to your cat. If he is kept only indoors that shouldn’t be a dilemma.
DMG is an antioxidant that enhances the immune system. Nu-Cat Senior by Vetri-Science contains CO Q10, taurine, DMG and many additional nutrients that support the immune system, cardiac, digestive and organ health. Also as long as your cat is on a holistic, well-balanced high protein and low carbohydrate diet this will also maintain a foundation of optimal health. You may also offer Bio-Cardio by Thorne for additional cardiac support with Hawthorne extract. Best of luck.
Sincerely,
