My 7 year old chocolate lab (male) has had diarrhea for the past 48 hours. What home remedies (i.e. food) should I give him to help clear his digestive tract?

Hello Ray,
Thank you for your inquiry to Holistic Pet Info. Since your labs’ diarrhea has been continuing for 48 hours, several issues must be addressed before I can suggest home remedies. Has your dog eaten any bones, has he been tested for intestinal worms, is the diarrhea bloody, is his abdomen distended or painful? I would highly recommend you see your local veterinarian to rule out any serious conditions especially since he is an older dog.

Once any serious condition is ruled out we can discuss probiotics, digestive enzymes and a natural diet to maintain a healthy GI tract.
