Diabetes and Cataracts

Question

I was just reading about Ocu-clear and would like a bit more info please.

I have a 6 year old German Shepherd X dog, should weigh 75 lbs. but is now app. 66 lbs. due to just being diagnosed with diabetes and pancreatitis end of April.

One of my concerns with her is the possibility of diabetic pets getting cataracts.  That is why I was looking into supplements for her and I like the idea of bilberry, heard lots about it. 

Would these pills interfere with her insulin intake?  My vet is not into holistic aids, does not know enough about them.

Also, how would I know if she is getting too much Vitamin A as her foods contain some Vitamin A.

You must remember that diabetic induced cataracts are primarily due to chronically high glucose in the body. Maintaining the glucose levels with proper insulin management is key to keeping the entire body healthy and strong.

Please be sure her diet consists of a good quality protein to maintain muscle mass, whole complex carbohydrates (no corn, white rice and wheat) to decrease insulin spikes and healthy fats.
