Calming a High Strung Dog
Question
I have a Yorkiepoo that is very high strung. I am looking for something natural that would help her to calm down a little. I thought Sedaplus might be a good product but she only weighs about 5 pounds. Do you think I could give her maybe a 1/4 of a tablet or is there something else that might be better.
Thank you,
Patty M.
Response
Hello Patty,
Thank you for your inquiry to Holistic Pet Info. Yes, Sedaplus may be a good option for her. You may try ¼ to ½ capsule daily with food or a treat. Please keep in mind daily exercise is crucial for helping with high excitement or anxiety. Also a training class should help tremendously to focus and modify unwanted behaviors. The more exercise and training any breed of dog receives the better behaved they are in any environment.
You may also want to revaluate her food. Often food dyes, preservatives and high poor quality carbohydrate diets can cause hyperactive behaviors. Nutrition changes to a holistic good quality protein diet commonly can help along with behavior modifications. Best of luck.
Sincerely,
Colleen Smith DVM, CVA |
