Small Animal Antioxidant by Thorne Research is designed for animals with an increased oxidative burden that need a supplement with maximum antioxidant potential.

This updated formula includes many of the powerful antioxidants of the orignal formula (milk thistle, grape seed extract, Vitamins C and E) and now has the added benefit of these ingredients:

• Potent plant-based antioxidants – curcumin, broccoli seed extract, resveratrol, hesperidin, quercetin, and carrot
• Amino acids to enhance glutathione levels – NAC, glycine, glutamic acid, and glutathione itself

Because of the range of antioxidant ingredients, this formula has particular affinity for a number of organs and tissues. Small Animal Antioxidant promotes strength and health of the eyes, heart, blood vessels, liver, lungs, skin, and neurological and immune systems.

Active Ingredients per Capsule:

Curcumin Phytosome* (Curcuma longa extract (root) / Phosphatidylcholine complex) (CurcuVET®) . . . 25 mg.
CurcuVET® is a unique, patented curcumin product from Thorne that has superior bioavailability than other curcumin extracts. Curcumin is a potent antioxidant that helps maintain the body's normal inflammatory response and has numerous health benefits for joint health, hepatic (liver) support, gastrointestinal health and cardiovascular function.

Milk Thistle extract (seed) (Silybum marianum)  . . . 25 mg.
Silybum marianum comes from the herb milk thistle. It has a powerful liver protectant and liver restorative properties. Numerous studies have shown that Silymarin will lower liver enyzme values. The antioxidant activity of silymarin appears to stabilize hepatocyte membranes, neutralize free radicals, and maintain liver glutathione levels.

Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C) . . . 25 mg.
Vitamin C helps in the production of collagen, promotes the healing of wounds and fractures, and strengthens blood vessels. It also enhances T-cell production which helps to fight off viral and bacterial infections and some allergies. Vitamin C is especially beneficial to animals with any type of chronic disease, infection allergy or dermatitis.

Grape Seed Extract  . . . 20 mg.
Grape seed extract promotes cellular health, elasticity and flexibility and improves blood circulation by strengthening capillaries, arteries and veins. Aging animals and those with cataracts, cancer and heart disease may benefit from grape seed extract.

Hesperidin Methyl Chalcone . . . 20 mg.
Hesperidin is a flavonoid derived from citrus plants and is thought to have the following activities: anti-inflammatory, anti-allergenic, vasoprotective (protecting the circulatory system) and anti-carcinogenic.

N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine . . . 20 mg.
NAC is a powerful liver detoxifier. One of its most important functions is in its ability to recycle glutathione to its reduced state. 

Trans-Resveratrol . . . 20 mg.
Trans-Resveratrol is an antioxidant that supports cardiovascular health.

Glutathione (Reduced) . . .15 mg.
Glutathione is one of the most important antioxidants. It is composed of three different amino acids: cysteine, glutamic acid and glycine. Glutathione neutralizes damaging free radicals and peroxide molecules, and regenerates oxidized vitamin C. Glutathione helps enhance the immune system, detoxify the liver, supports and cardiovascular system and helps reduce the side effects of chemotherapy.

Glutamic Acid . . . 15 mg.

d-Alpha Tocopheryl (Vitamin E) (12 IU) . . . 10 mg.
Vitamin E supplies oxygen to the blood, strengthens capillary walls and protects red blood cells. It brings nourishment to cells and helps to maintain healthy membrane tissue. Vitamin E is especially beneficial to aging animals and animals with heart disease, cancer and atopic dermatitis.

Quercetin (soluble)** . . . 10 mg.
Quercetin is a natural antioxidant bioflavonoid that protects cells from damage by free radicals.  It helps maintain normal histamine levels, provides cardiovascular support and protects the gastrointestinal tract.

Glycine . . .  6 mg.
An amino acid that has been shown to retard muscle degeneration and it is utilized in the construction of DNA and RNA. 

Carrot powder . . . 5 mg.
Carrot powder provides a good source of beta-carotene. In the body, Beta-carotene is converted into vitamin A, which is essential for healthy cell growth and a strong immune system.

Sulforaphane Glucosinolate (from broccoli seed extract) . . . 5 mg.
Sulforaphane is the chemoprotective compound found in broccoli and has been shown to help mobilize the body's natural cancer-fighting resources and  may reduce the risk of developing cancer.

Inactive Ingredients: Hypromellose (derived from cellulose) capsule, Microcrystalline Cellulose, Natural Bacon Flavoring, Silicon Dioxide .

Dosage for Cats: 1 capsule daily

Dosage for Dogs: 2 capsules for every 25 lbs body weight

 Safe use in pregnant animals or animals intended for breeding has not been proven. 

Do not use in high doses with anticoagulant drugs or in patients with stomach ulcers.

 

Not to be used with blood thinners.
