I have been using your products for a few years now. I have a 13 year old welsh corgi currently on Merrick dry and canned food, going between the senior formula and grammy’s pot pie with organic chicken. He is also regularly on Immugen, and all treats are organic/natural. He had a kidney stone about 6 months ago, and I had him on the Renal Essentials for the duration of 1 bottle with excellent results.
He recently started having diarrhea and vomiting, so I’ve ordered Gastriplex and the Renal Essentials again. I took him to his vet today and they have informed me that he has pancreatitis and have given him strict instructions of no food til tomorrow only if he stops vomiting, and then very small amounts of plain rice and chicken. He has also been placed on an antibiotic and I was told for him to take 1 10mg tab of pepcid ac starting tomorrow as well. If he’s still vomiting tomorrow morning, I will be taking him back to the vet for them to put him on IV fluids for a couple of days.
I am wondering if you could give me some insight on your products since the vet I take him to doesn’t really know a lot about homeopathic/holistic medicine. I’m concered with the Gastriplex, due to the fact that pancreatitis is the leaking of digestive enzymes, and Gastriplex is a digestive enzyme, so I’m thinking maybe he shouldn’t have that now that I’ve ordered it!!!

Thank you for continued patronage of Holistic Pet info. Gastriplex is not a digestive enzyme supplement; it is a probiotic. It should not be an issue giving it to your dog with pancreatitis. A probiotic restores the healthy bacteria of the GI and helps decrease the inflammation in the intestinal lining. It would most likely help in the event of pancreatitis. If your veterinarian is unsure of the supplements, calling Thorne products should be the best avenue for answering all questions. Best of luck.
