Vitamin A and Kidney Disease in Dogs

I have been using Ocuclear for my Dalmatian who has glaucoma and is blind in one eye.  She is 12 yrs old and has kidney disease – she is still in overall good health but I just read that you should not supplement Vitamin A to dogs with kidney disease.

Ocuclear has Vitamin A — I have stopped giving her the supplement.  Is this the proper course of action?

Hello,

In animals with kidney disease they do have a decreased ability to eliminate Vitamin A. To be on the safe side you may want to discontinue the Ocuclear and try Eye-Heal by PetAlive. It contains herbs that help with inflammation and detoxify tissues. Best of luck.
