Senior Cat with Tumors

My 16-1/2 year old cat, Tiger, and was just diagnosed with a large tumor the size of a grapefruit in the abdomen.  The tumor is pushing his other organs in other directions. His lungs have two small tumors.  He was always a healthy cat; however, you would never know he is this sick.  He throws up once in a while, follows me around, and does all his normal kitty things for a senior cat.  Urination and bowel movements are good and his drinking and eating are normal.  Eye color is good and doesn’t seem to be in horrendous pain, but I know he is uncomfortable.

The vet said there is nothing she can do – the cancer is so far advanced.

I looked at the suggested products for cats with cancer and I thought I would try the C-Caps from PetAlive and the Super EPA fish oil.   What are your thoughts?

My other cat, Jaguar, is 15 years old and he is on Zentinol for his liver.  I  give him fluids via IV 3 times per week.  Would milk thistle be too much in addition to his Zentinol?

Thank you for your response.  Shirley

Hello Shirley,

I’m sorry to hear about Tiger.  C-Caps and Super EPA fish oil should help keep inflammation down and support the immune system. You may also make sure he is getting a very good quality protein diet with no grains.

For Jaguar, milk thistle would definitely help his liver.  Zentonil contains SAM-e and it is often combined with milk thistle for liver disease. LiverAid by PetAlive is an excellent supplement that can be given with the Zentonil without issue. Best of luck.

Sincerely,

Colleen Smith DVM, CVA
