I have a 15 yr old female dog pitbull mix. She is spayed and not overweight. I recently took her to her vet because she wasn’t getting up or drinking water and was very listless. They did x-rays and blood work, and found out there is a big mass next to her liver. The vet (not holistic) gave me prednisone for her (20 mg tablet twice a day).
She has come back to normal if you will.
My question is can I give the C-Caps along with the prednisone or will there be problems and concerns ? Please let me know, before the tumor continues to grow. Thank you.
Hello,
Thank you for your inquiry to Holisitic Pet Info. I’m very sorry to hear about the mass in her abdomen. Do you know if it is on the spleen and are you having it removed?
The C-Caps with the prednisone should not be an issue. Over time the prednisone is tapered to a dose for maintenance. Thorne Research Small Animal Antioxidant will also be helpful to support the immune system to help fight cancer cells.
Keep in mind cancer cells utilize carbohydrates primarily and protein slightly but cannot utilize fat. A good quality protein, with moderate fats and no carbohydrates and grains is the best diet to decrease the energy for cancer cells. It may be helpful if you speak with a holistic veterinarian, as there are several alternative therapies available such as neoplasene that may be of help to your dog.
Best of luck,
