Is Glucosamine Safe for Dogs with Cushings?

My dog has just been diagnosed with Cushings disease.  She is under the care of a holistic vet.  I would like to give her  glucosamine and chondroiton for her joint pain.   Is it safe to take your product?  I don’t want to give her anything that will aggravate her present condition.

Thank you,
Sandra

Hello Sandra,

Thank you for your inquiry to Holistic Pet Info. It should not be an issue offering your dog glucosamine and chondroitin to relieve joint pain. As long as your dog does not have concurrent diabetes, which would be an issue with the breakdown products of glucosamine. Homeopathic products such as Traumeel or Zeel are also excellent pain relievers.

You may also want to consider supporting the liver with a supplement like Hepagen-C by Thorne. The liver gets quite toxic with the high cortisol levels from the adrenal glands. Best of luck.
