Dog with Lyme’s Disease and UTIs

I have a 7 yr old Jack Russell/poodle mix. She was recently diagnosed with Lyme disease. She went on doxycycline June 5 by June 18 she was very ill.  She had an allergic reaction to the doxycycline and went into liver failure. She was hospitalized for 4 days and they tested her for everything under the sun– xrays for tumors, blood tests, hypothyroidism, cushings, and ultra sound with a specialist to tell  me that:  The diagnosis was doxycycline liver hepatopathy (presumed).

After her 4 days in the hospital; her liver enzymes started to come down. It took a good month with home cooking and denosyl to bring her enzymes back. They reduced the amount of antibiotic for her bc of her liver for the Lyme.

Daisy is doing better and I wanted her on the TF Defense for the Lyme’s Disease and her immune system.

She recently had a urinary tract infection and I did not want her to go on antibiotics again so I used the UTI Free. It worked amazingly on her but she needs a 7-14 course of it and I was wondering if it is safe to use it along with the TF Defense?

It has been a financial and emotional roller coaster. I just want her to be the best that she can be. ~Thank You, Joyce

Hello Joyce,

It’s tough to go through emotional emergencies like this. It’s good to hear she recovered and is doing well.  You may give the UTI Free and TF Defense together. They are both homeopathics and should not have a conflict.

Also, since she had a severe reaction to the vaccine, I would ask your vet if she should not receive any more vaccines. It’s likely that she could have a negative immune response to vaccines now as well. Best of luck.
