My 13 year old cat is Hyperthyroid (takes Methimazole) and has mild Asthma (Prednisone). Her Asthma is pretty much non-existent in the winter. The cat’s last blood work came back with a low white cell count-2000. The vet had me cut her Methimazole dosage by 1/4 to see if we can increase the white cell count. We go back to the vet in a month.
I also have a 7 year old dog, about 50 lbs and healthy-no meds. Both pets are on high quality diets. My cat is given wet food (Eagle Pack Holisitic Select, Innova Flex). My dog is given Eagle Pack Holisitic Select Dry with canned Eagle Pack, Merrick, Innova Flex).
My question is this: I would like a product I can give to both my pets, that won’t interact with the cat’s meds. I would like to boost the cats immune system in the event her white count stays low. I want to keep them both as healthy as possible. There are several products on your site and I’m not sure which one I need. Thanks for the advice.
Hello,
Both your pets are on excellent diets and that should be a great foundation for maintaining good health. For your cat that appears to have seasonal asthma, AmazaPet by PetAlive should help reduce the frequency in severity and attacks. Small Animal Antioxidant by Thorne should benefit both pets long term and primarily help increase your cat’s white blood cell count.
Best of luck.
Sincerely,
Colleen Smith DVM, CVA
