Cat with Kidney Stones

I have a cat who has kidney stones, the vet thinks maybe a tumor.  She is on an antibiotic.   I was wondering what items on your site would you recommend if it is just stones. She is seems to be in pain, and has blood in the urine. She tries to go it doesn’t matter where she is she will try. We keep water available for her. Thanks for your help.

Hello,

Kidney stones are often formed by a diet high in ash. I suggest primarily changing the diet or the stones will continue to form. Unfortunately, stones cannot be dissolved, they must be surgically removed. If she is having urge incontinence (trying to go where ever she is) has her bladder been evaluated as well?

Were these stones diagnosed with ultrasound or x-rays? If not, I would highly recommend seeing a specialist to find out if she definitely has a tumor. You may try Renal Essentials for Cats by Vetri-Science, to maintain as much kidney function and health as possible. Stones in the kidneys can cause a lot of tissue trauma.

If she is in pain, please ask your vet to give her a medication to make her more comfortable. It is not acceptable to let her remain in pain. Best of luck.
