Holistic Pet Information provides natural pet care products and information for using nutritional supplements, vitamins and other natural medicines to help cats and dogs live healthy lives.

Holistic Pet Information recommends that your pet's healthcare be directed
under the supervision of a licensed veterinarian and that
you consult with him/her before administering any nutritional supplements
to your pet. |
|
|
Holistic Pet Info was created to help pet owners learn about nutraceuticals and other natural medicines for cats and dogs. Our goal is to assist you in making informed
decisions about healthcare and treatment options for your pets.
We
encourage you to BROWSE our web pages, LEARN about
how nutraceuticals may help heal your pet, and then DISCUSS the information with your veterinarian. Together, you can decide
what is the best treatment for your beloved friend.
Consult with our Holistic Veterinarian
If you have questions about nutraceuticals or would like to consult with our holistic veterinarian, Dr. Colleen Smith, about
the right nutraceutical for your pet, send us an email and someone
will contact you within 48 hours to set up a phone consultation or respond to your question. See Ask-A-Vet page.
Colleen Smith, DVM, is currently practicing in Chattanooga, Tennesessee. She is a certified veterinary acupuncturist and is a member of the International Veterinary acupuncture Society (IVAS) and the American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association (AHVMA).

About Our Products
The products we recommend on this website represent the most well-researched and effective nutraceuticals available. The manufacturers are recognized for their high standards for using only the purest, highest quality raw materials and adhering to a strict manufacturing process with quality control checks from start to finish.
One of the manufacturers, Thorne Research, uses human-grade ingredients in their veterinary product line. Their products are hypoallergenic and they do not contain unnecessary additives such as flowing agents, fillers, binders or lubricants. This means that your pet receives only the nutrients they need, in a form that is easily absorbed and does not cause bloating, nausea and diarrhea that sometimes occurs from supplements containing lactose and other additives.
Purchasing Our Products
Most of the supplements offered on our Products page are available for purchase by you, the pet caretaker. These products include vitamins, joint support, antioxidants, essential fatty acids, digestive and immune support.
If your pet has a potentially life threatening condition that needs to be monitored closely (i.e. hepatitis, congestive heart failure or diabetes) it is best that your pet be under the direct care of a veterinarian. Therefore, we recommend that certain nutraceuticals may only be purchased by your veterinarian or after a consultation with our veterinarian. These products are listed on our "Restricted Products" page.
Safety Concerns
Remember, nutraceuticals are generally safe, but may interact
with other medicine your pet is taking, so ALWAYS confer with
your veterinarian before you administer any new medication
to your pet. Also, dogs and cats metabolize certain ingredients
differently and may have a severe or fatal reaction if an inappropriate
product or dosage is given. NEVER give your dog a medication designed
for a cat, or vice versa. And ALWAYS follow the appropriate dosage.
