UT Strength Canine Chews by Vetri-Science - Supports Urinary Tract Health in Dogs
UT Strength Canine Chews supports urinary tract health by maintaining bacterial balance in the bladder and urinary tract. It can be used long term for dogs who are predisposed to infections and crystals.
The ingredients in UT Strength Canine were selected to help support urinary tract health in the following ways:
- Inhibit bacteria growth in high alkaline environments.
- Maintain proper biodiversity of "good" bacteria in the small and large bowel.
- Acidify the urine and prevent the adherence of bacteria to the cell lining of the urinary tract.
- Improve digestion by producing a wide spectrum of enzymes.
Chews contains probiotics, cranberry extract and D-Mannose which helps void the bacteria that is responsible for most UTIs.
Chicken liver flavored chews are easy to give and dogs love the taste!
Each pouch contains 60 chicken-flavored bite-sized chews.
Active Ingredients Per 1 Chew:
D-Mannose. . . 400 mg
D-Mannose is a natural occurring simple sugar that removes "bad" bacteria by attachment and voiding. It is absorbed eight times slower than glucose and, when ingested, is not converted to glycogen or stored in the liver but, rather, goes directly into the blood stream from the kidneys to the bladder. The bacteria displaced by Mannose is responsible for 80-90% of UTIs, whereas antibiotic treatment may cause an imbalance in the normal flora.
N-Acetyl-Glucosamine (Shrimp and Crab). . . 400 mg
N-Acetyl-Glucosamine (NAG) is an important form of glucosamine found in the body. It is the form that is used for the production of glycoproteins. The glycoprotein layer in the mucosal lining of the urinary tract has a high content of NAG. This layer of mucosal cells is the protective barrier against acids and bacteria, and it is replaced every 3-4 days. Due to this high cell turnover rate, the GI tract requires increased amounts of NAG to support structural integrity and functionality.
Cranberry Extract. . . 200 mg
Cranberry Extract helps to acidify urine. It naturally contains proanthocyanidins or PCO's that neutralize free radicals and prevents the adherence of pathogenic bacteria to the cells that line the bladder and urinary tract. Cranberry has also been used as a urine deodorizer as it decreases the strong smell of ammonia.
Bromelain. . . 200 mg
Bromelain is a group of enzymes found in pineapples. It has an anti-inflammatory effect and can help relieve pain and swelling.
Corn Silk . . . 120 mg
GanedenBC (Bacillus coagulans)... 200 million CFU
Ganeden BC is a gram-positive, spore-forming, lactic acid producing strain of Bacillus coagulans. Research has demonstrated its ability to maintain proper biodiversity in the small and large bowel; inhibit pathogens that proliferate in high alkaline environments; improve digestion by producing a wide spectrum of enzymes; utilize undigested carbohydrates and lipids in the small bowel; help regulate gut associated cytokine activity.
